Job Summary: The OT Network and CIP Compliance Engineer is responsible for managing the Operational Technology systems for utility‑scale solar power plants, including firewalls, switches, servers, and virtual machines, to ensure operational reliability, cyber security, and NERC CIP compliance. This role supports operations by ensuring that operations personnel have access to systems and that systems are maintained and supported according to compliance and security policies.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Provisioning access to appropriate personnel to support operations.
- Reviewing, approving, and provisioning remote access for appropriate personnel.
- Ensuring systems are maintained with appropriate firmware updates and patches.
- Configuring and maintaining switches, routers, firewalls, and other networking devices in the OT environment.
- Ensuring appropriate system backups are performed and maintained.
- Troubleshooting system, networking and telecoms issues.
- Maintaining records of system configurations and troubleshooting performance.
- Supporting implementation of NERC CIP requirements and other appropriate cyber security frameworks.
- Proficiency with Windows system administration and patching.
- Proficiency in VM environments.
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux system builds.
- Proficiency in configuring databases.
- Experience with firewall administration (Palo Alto preferred).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (NERC CIP preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Quick learner with strong adherence to operational and security processes and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in technology, network engineering, SCADA, or industrial automation and control.
- Experience with NERC CIP reliability standards preferred.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to occasionally travel to solar facilities or meetings.
