Multi-line Risk Engineering Consultant – Zurich Insurance

Zurich’s Middle Markets Risk Engineering team is seeking a Risk Engineering Consultant or Senior Risk Engineering Consultant with Property and Casualty Risk Engineering experience to support the Middle Market Underwriting Business Unit. This work-from-home role is ideally located within the St. Paul, MN area. A company car and up to 50% expected travel may be provided based on the demands of the position and associated geography.

Accountabilities
  • Perform field engineering risk assessments and risk improvement services for prospect and bound accounts; typically conducted virtually, but often requires regional travel.
  • Provide engineering support to underwriting teams and attend client/broker meetings as needed.
  • Manage account risk portfolio and deliver account‑level engineering to meet underwriting requirements.
  • Provide advanced property and casualty consultative services, identify exposures with significant loss potential, investigate cause/effect of major losses, and review property/casualty management programs for effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement customer‑service strategies that reduce losses and improve customer operations.
  • Monitor delivery of property and casualty account engineering services to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery.
  • Assist in marketing Zurich resilience solutions and risk‑transfer insurance products in collaboration with underwriting professionals and agents across company business segments.
Basic Qualifications – Risk Engineering Consultant
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience in risk management within Property & Casualty.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience in risk management within Property & Casualty.
Basic Qualifications – Senior Risk Engineering Consultant
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of experience in risk engineering within Property & Casualty.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 8 years of experience in risk engineering within Property & Casualty.
  • Zurich Certified Apprentice with an associate’s degree and at least 6 years of experience in risk engineering within Property & Casualty.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Fire Science, Health and Safety, or related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation.
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS).
  • HPR Property experience.
  • Industry experience in manufacturing, health science, or technology.
  • Account oversight experience as a Loss Control/Risk Engineering consultant for middle‑market or large customers in property and casualty lines.
  • Capability to manage and coordinate safety services for middle‑market and large customers with multiple locations.
  • Knowledge of safety management programs that control workplace hazards, educate employees, and promote safety awareness/accountability.
  • Ability to conduct safety training with large and small groups at all business levels.
  • Strong communication, results‑oriented consulting, and collaboration skills.
  • High proficiency in using computer and related software.

Compensation is determined by location, role, skill set, and experience. The nationwide market range for this position is $74,300–$161,000, with separate ranges for the Risk Engineering Consultant ($74,300–$121,700) and Senior Risk Engineering Consultant ($98,300–$161,000) levels. Short‑term incentive bonus eligibility is 10% for the Consultant level and 15% for the Senior level.
