Join our team as the next Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Engineer. Bring your technical expertise and problem‑solving skills to help maximize power supply savings for Connexus membership. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing, operating and overseeing distributed energy assets. This position will report to the Director of Power Supply and Business Development and will regularly collaborate across the organization.
Location: The position can be performed both on‑site at our campus located at 14601 Ramsey Blvd, Ramsey, MN 55303, and from your local home office. This position requires at least three days a week in the office or out in the field. Additional days may be required due to responsibilities. A hybrid role, but hires must reside in or relocate within commuting distance to our office in Ramsey, MN.
Compensation: Anticipated hiring pay is between $98,600 and $129,465 per year. The final compensation is based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience and skill level. The position is eligible for an annual bonus with a target payout of 8% based on company performance.
Responsibilities- Lead project management of new DERs, coordinating and collaborating with leadership and other departments throughout the process.
- Regularly monitor utility DERs, including solar, storage and diesel generators for availability and performance.
- Flag operational issues, communicate them internally, and coordinate with asset owners and operators to resolve.
- Provide technical advising on residential, commercial and utility‑scale DERs and Load Management programs to the Power Supply and Business Development team and other departments.
- Advise the Technical Support Team (TST) for Power Supply Operations (PSO); support pre‑event activities, event monitoring and operations, and post‑event analysis. Participate in the TST on‑call rotation, which may require work outside normal business hours.
- Provide tours and oversee access to utility DER sites, coordinating with internal departments and external stakeholders as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a power systems emphasis.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate.
- Four or more years of related work experience (Engineer II).
- Current and valid driver’s license.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Experience with interconnection and operation of distributed energy assets such as solar and battery storage at residential, commercial and/or utility‑scale.
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre‑employment background check and drug screen.
