The Mission Critical Estimator supports the mission critical sales and operations staff in developing bid/proposal responses for data center / mission critical project opportunities and is tasked with making sure the estimates are complete and updated as needed. This is a fast paced job and requires a sense of urgency and attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for network cabling systems, including materials, labor, travel, tooling costs, and other expenses.
  • Prepare detailed bid proposals and ensure alignment with project budgets and client expectations.
  • Review and interpret project drawings, and specifications to assess the scope of work.
  • Identify project requirements and constraints, ensuring clarity in all estimates.
  • Collaborate with vendors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and equipment.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals to ensure quality and compliance with project standards.
  • Work closely with sales, project managers, engineers, and design teams to ensure estimates align with project and company goals.
  • Provide clear and concise reporting on cost estimates, revisions, and project changes.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges in cabling projects, proposing solutions to mitigate them.
  • Incorporate contingency planning into cost estimates to account for unforeseen variables.
  • Ensure all estimates adhere to industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, BICSI) and client-specific requirements.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in network cabling.
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience estimating hyperscale data center projects with pre-terminated large fiber trunks (864 strand, 3,456 strand).
  • In-depth understanding of network cabling systems, including structured cabling, fiber optics, copper cabling, and pathways.
  • Familiarity with hyperscale data center environments and mission-critical operations.
  • Knowledge of power, cooling, and cable management systems in data centers.
  • Advanced skills in estimation software (e.g., Excel, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar tools).
  • Competence in CAD/Revit software for reviewing layouts and designs is a plus.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as BICSI RCDD or DCDC are strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Telecommunications or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical and financial modeling skills for cost estimation.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of estimating for large-scale or hyperscale infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with mission-critical environments where precision and reliability are paramount.
