POSITION OVERVIEW
This Associate Civil Engineer role is located in the Development Review Section of the Engineering and Water Resources Division (DOU). The incumbent will review subdivision plans for water, wastewater, and drainage, approve construction material submittals, and respond to construction RFI’s. The position also assists with commercial building permit reviews and ensures all plan checks meet review requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Review subdivision plans related to water, wastewater and drainage; approve construction material submittals.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFI) during construction projects.
- Assist in commercial building permit reviews and complete plan checks accurately.
- Answer DOU-related technical questions and coordinate with field staff.
- Review proposed abandonment of DOU infrastructure and encroachments; create fee estimates.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of City building and utility codes.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. EIT certification acceptable until registration is obtained.
Experience: Minimum of one year professional civil engineering experience; experience with water, wastewater, or drainage review preferred.
Registration: Must hold a valid California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, ability to review technical drawings, knowledge of public works standards.
WORK LOCATION & REMOTE OPTIONSIncumbents must physically reside within the Sacramento region and may be eligible for intermittent remote work with supervisor approval.
