Position Overview
We are actively looking for several Senior Estimators to lead estimates and estimating teams to support design/build projects in the Vertical building market, based out of our Springfield Virginia office. In the building market, we support a broad scope of projects which includes: government, historical, Department of Navy, Army Corps, arts and culture, aviation, commercial/mixed-use, federal, healthcare, higher education, hospitality, sports/entertainment, and industrial construction.
Our capabilities include preconstruction, general contracting, building information modeling, construction management, engineering, sustainability, and self-performed scopes of work. Kiewit Building Group specializes in vertical construction, we build office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, government buildings, science and technology facilities, retail and special-use facilities, and extensive interior construction with tenant improvements. Our capabilities include all facets of construction and engineering including general contracting, construction management, design-build, design-assist and turn-key project development.
LocationIn this role, you will work out of our Springfield Virginia office, with occasional travel to project sites around the Eastern region. Most of our work is located in the DC/VA and Maryland areas.
Responsibilities- Develop complete estimates for large, complex jobs, including design/build and EPC.
- Review owner plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project; develop plan for the actual construction to serve as basis for the estimate.
- Reviewing and assisting with proposals and other documentation to prepare cost estimates
- Reviews all bid and contract documents and home office legal department opinions.
- Conduct site investigation prior to forming a plan of operations to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present.
- Utilize engineer techniques and procedures to conduct investigation and adhere to standard company policy and procedures.
- Perform design work as required by the project that is beyond the estimator scope of experience; handle any major technical problems encountered during bid preparation.
- Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods and procedures that are developing in the industry.
- Become proficient in Kiewit’s estimating program, “InEight Estimate”.
- Provide leadership and strategy in subcontractor and vendor selection process;
May lead small estimating teams and lead estimates for projects. - Prepare special engineering studies or reports required by certain bid items or conditions.
