Environmental Geologist

Location:

Miami, FL

Hours:

Monday‑Friday 8am‑5pm

Salary: $90,000–$125,000/year

Hybrid

Schedule:

2‑3 days work from home; up to 25% in the field

A growing environmental consulting firm is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Environmental Geologist or Engineer to join its Environmental Assessment team in Miami‑Dade County, Florida
. This position is ideal for a seasoned environmental professional with 7–15+ years of consulting experience and in‑depth knowledge of Florida environmental regulations
, including those of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Miami‑Dade County DERM
. Candidates must be currently local to Florida and/or have previous experience working with Florida agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
  • Prepare Contamination Assessment Reports and soil management plans
  • Develop background studies for contaminants of concern and Remedial Action Plans
  • Perform regulatory coordination and ensure compliance with applicable local and state programs
  • Prepare detailed technical reports reviewed by regulatory agencies and legal counsel
  • Support permitting, environmental monitoring, and closure strategies
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and provide guidance and mentorship as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, or Civil Engineering (required)
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant environmental consulting experience
  • Active Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license (Florida)
  • Direct experience with Miami‑Dade County DERM and FDEP regulations
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to manage time and priorities across multiple active projects
  • Collaborative mindset and adaptability in a fast‑paced consulting environment
  • Proficient in standard office and environmental reporting software
