As a Consultant Engineer – Boiler & Machinery, you will identify and evaluate hazards associated with boilers, machinery, and equipment, performing machinery risk assessments and in‑service jurisdictional inspections to help minimize risks.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and evaluate hazards associated with boilers, machinery and equipment.
- Perform machinery risk assessments to evaluate risks to boilers, pressure vessels, turbines, and other capital machinery, as well as electrical equipment and utilities.
- Provide consultative recommendations to clients for risk minimization.
- Conduct in‑service jurisdictional inspections of boilers and pressure vessels.
- Work independently from a home office while collaborating with the Toronto Field Engineering team.
- Travel to large, complex industrial client sites (expected overnight travel ~35%).
- Service Central & Eastern Canada with occasional assignments throughout Canada.
- Use current technology and software products to analyze and document engineering recommendations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication with executives, plant managers, engineers, and technical personnel.
- Attention to detail and engineering judgment.
- Efficient time management with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and allowed to travel to the United States.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. P.Eng. license or Engineer in Training;
Member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
A minimum of 3 years of experience within high‑challenge manufacturing industries, including predictive and preventive maintenance practices. Experience in the pulp and paper industry is required.
CompensationHiring range: $83,200 to $109,200, plus participation in FM’s total rewards program (incentive plan, health & wellness, pension, tuition reimbursement, etc.).
