A Little More About Your Role… As a Senior Fire Engineer, you’ll typically be working on a variety of projects at once, from a university in Scotland to a high-rise residential tower in London, with plenty of international projects. All with the goal of enabling innovative architectural design without compromising the fire safety of the building.

You’ll be running through design information, liaising with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures, presenting designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and helping to inform the design team about what changes could be made to increase the safety of the building.

There is a lot to learn, and you are likely to be guided through a variation of software packages, fire standards, team briefings and client updates from the start. We’re a nice bunch and we regularly get together for social events. In addition to the day‑to‑day role, we will assist the successful candidate toward professional registration via IFE and other professional organisations.

• Lead and contribute as a Senior Fire Engineer on multiple projects, ensuring fire safety is integrated with architectural design.
• Review design information and liaise with disciplines (Facades, Acoustics, Structures) to inform design decisions.
• Present designs to local authorities and the Fire Service and propose changes to improve safety.
• Engage in design reviews, client updates, and progress reporting.
• Support professional development toward chartered status or equivalent qualifications via structured programmes.

• BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with in the fire engineering consulting industry.
• Possible base to be from any UK major office.
• Participation in a bespoke development programme including training in technical report writing, team technical skills, project management, influential communications, commercial concepts, team collaboration, and continuous improvement.

You will have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, and must have experience within the fire engineering consulting industry. This role can be based from any of our UK major offices.
