Independent Nuclear Assurance (INA) Site Inspector – Civil Engineering
Location:
Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk (On‑site with occasional remote work; flexible or part‑time arrangements can be considered).
Contract:
Permanent, full‑time.
Salary:
Starting at £77,000 or higher, depending on experience and qualifications (Grade C–D), plus benefits.
- Annual Leave: 28 days per annum, increasing to 30 days after 5 years of service, plus bank holidays.

What is INA?INA is the internal regulator for the Sizewell C project, providing independent oversight across a broad range of project activities. Our work is risk‑informed and supports, regulates, inspects and assures design, construction and operational activities.
Your RoleAs a Site Inspector you will lead the independent oversight of site civil‑engineering activities, ensuring that construction works are planned and executed in line with approved designs, standards and safety and quality requirements. You will challenge gaps, promote best practice and support high‑quality, safe and compliant delivery through site walk‑downs, independent assessments and stakeholder engagement. Opportunities to broaden skills exist in other areas of INA such as Environment, Emergency Preparedness and Security.
Responsibilities- Inspect construction sites and assess conformance with designs, drawings and specifications.
- Review construction RAMS, design output and construction information.
- Prepare detailed reports, highlighting risks, observations and recommendations.
- Engage and influence stakeholders across the project, including client team, contractors and regulators.
- Participate in independent audits and non‑technical assessments of site activities.
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering (or closely related discipline).
- Progressing towards or holding Chartered status with ICE or IStruct
E. - Strong knowledge of civil engineering design, construction processes and standards.
- Ability to interpret construction information and undertake site inspections.
- Experience in reviewing RAMS and identifying risks.
- Excellent report‑writing skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly.
- Experience in construction management is desirable but not essential.
- Understanding of CDM responsibilities is a plus.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Willingness to challenge unsafe behaviours or practices.
- Commitment to the highest standards of safety and quality.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and across the organisation.
