OverviewAs part of the UK Stations Strategy it is the intention to grow our Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) CAD team and we currently have exciting opportunities within the design team for quality hires to help us deliver our expanding portfolio of projects and clients. This role involves the production of 3D and 2D MEP design information for High Speed‑2 Stations and Railway Systems, London Underground, Overground and Network Rail Station projects.
Responsibilities- Use Bentley Micro Station and Open Buildings to model 3D MEP services including cable management systems, pipework, ductwork, etc.; produce 2D sections from 3D models for drawings and schematic layout.
- Carry out CAD modelling to the appropriate level of detail through all stages of development (feasibility to detailed design and handback) to relevant industry standards.
- Complete design coordination with other disciplines to ensure a clash‑free design with appropriate access and maintenance requirements once installed.
- Work with the project team to maximise data exchange across multiple software platforms, managed through a Common Data Environment (CDE).
- Provide support to the engineering team in reviewing design data as required, mentoring and upskilling technical staff.
- Experience with multiple software platforms, including Bentley Micro Station, Open Buildings and Project Wise.
- Understanding of BIM and working within a Common Data Environment, preferably Bentley Project Wise.
- Working with off‑shore CAD and BIM resources would be a valuable strength.
- Good understanding of current and emerging software platforms and industry peer group operations.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft software applications, including writing macros for complex or repetitive calculations; experience of VBA would be advantageous.
- HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or appropriate experience working on rail and civil engineering design projects, preferably at tender, concept and detailed design stages. Full knowledge of all design stages of a major new rail station project.
