About

this Role

Due to the rapid and exciting growth of Kier’s internal environmental consultancy services, a new opportunity has emerged for a Climate and Sustainability Lead. This key role involves guiding the delivery of carbon and sustainability assessments across a diverse range of UK projects, covering road, rail, water, and property sectors. As part of a dynamic team, the Climate and Sustainability Lead will be instrumental in driving climate resilience initiatives, focusing on carbon reduction, green building certification systems, and decarbonization strategies aligned with net-zero goals.

With remote working options, this role offers the flexibility of working hybridly, requiring travel to sites and offices nationwide.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of sustainability and carbon consultancy services across multiple sectors.
  • Act as a focal point for technical advice on decarbonization strategies.
  • Conduct Whole Life Carbon Assessments and develop carbon management plans.
  • Guide and facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions and workshops.
  • Promote carbon reduction and innovation across the business.
  • Support the team in developing capabilities and overcoming technical challenges.
Requirements
  • Degree in ecology or equivalent experience.
  • Full membership of ISEP (or equivalent) and CEnv.
  • Robust understanding of UK climate legislation and policy drivers.
  • Strong working knowledge of WLCA and carbon accounting software.
  • Experience with green building certification systems (e.g., BREEAM, WELL, LEED).
  • Demonstrable experience in developing carbon management strategies.
  • Relevant report writing skills and experience leading a team.
