Are you passionate about driving excellence in quality and compliance? As a Quality Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our regional construction delivery teams by coaching, advising, and training to inspire managers, staff, and contractors. Your mission will be to ensure adherence to industry standards, ISO regulations, and National Grid procedures, fostering a culture of excellence.

What You’ll Do
  • Champion Continuous Improvement:
    Promote and sustain world-class quality performance across our contractors in construction works.
  • Expert Guidance:
    Serve as a trusted source of expertise on quality issues in Construction and Manufacturing assurance, helping to identify the impacts of poor quality, defects, and rework on costs, delays, and safety.
  • Support projects in executing the company’s Quality strategy.
  • Provide essential Quality input during the tender and contract award process.
  • Act as the go-to contact for quality documentation and processes.
  • Conduct regular site visits and quality walks, collaborating with site teams to identify and resolve issues.
  • Attend project meetings to ensure compliance with NG and ISO requirements.
  • Investigate major defects, offering expert advice and guidance on resolutions while communicating valuable learning points.
  • Engage and coach staff, managers, and contractors to promote a positive quality culture across Customer Connections.
  • Deliver independent Quality Assurance advice and audit capabilities, ensuring compliance with NG and contractor ISO standards.
  • Collaborate with Project Teams throughout all phases, from design to commissioning.
  • Provide monthly Quality data to management and support the implementation of a comprehensive Quality SMS programme.
  • Contribute to the development and review of NG policies, procedures, and specifications, promoting best practices and lessons learned.

We currently have projects in the following counties - Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire/Berkshire/Surrey/Sussex/Essex/Dorset/Kent/Greater London, so you will ideally be based within one of these geographical areas. Travel will be required to sites within the region and this can be combined with hybrid working from home.

What you’ll need
  • A Diploma in Health & Safety Practice or Environmental Management (or equivalent).
  • A valid Full UK Driving Licence.
  • NEBOSH Certificate, IOSH Managing Safety, or equivalent qualifications such as EUSR/SHEA.
  • In-depth knowledge of Quality in Construction and ISO compliance.
  • Previous experience in a Quality role within a construction or comparable industry.
  • Familiarity with National Grid policies, procedures, processes, and specifications, particularly regarding project design and delivery during the construction phase, would be beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to coach and motivate individuals.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills at all organisational levels, including external contractors.
  • Capability to recommend preventative actions, develop new initiatives, and ensure their successful implementation.
  • Proficiency in developing and delivering training and briefing materials in an innovative, engaging, and effective manner.
  • Ability to identify and assess patterns of resistance, coupled with strong problem-solving skills.
  • A solid understanding of CDM Regulations, particularly in relation to the roles of Client, Principal Designer, and Principal Contractor.

  • Salary of £54,000 - £65,000 dependent on experience and capability (plus £10,970 London Weighting Allowance for roles covering London region)
