Overview
Location: Home-based (flexible, northern UK candidates preferred)
Start Date: ASAP
The CompanyAn established independent energy specialist with 25+ years’ experience delivering innovative generation systems in the UK and overseas. Since 2019, the business has expanded into flexible reserve generation, energy storage, and behind-the-meter solutions. With a growing portfolio from 500 kW rooftop schemes to multi-MW ground-mount installations, the company is entering a period of significant growth and diversification.
The OpportunityA key client of ours are urgently seeking a hands-on Solar Project Engineer to join a rapidly expanding team. This role is crucial for project delivery, reporting to the Head of Solar.
You will take ownership across the full lifecycle of solar projects - from initial proposals and grid applications to construction, commissioning, and handover. The role is highly practical, requiring daily experience with PV SOL and active involvement on-site with installers and scaffolders.
This is not a purely design-focused position - we need someone who has demonstrated cradle-to-grave project experience and can bridge the gap between design and build.
What We’re Looking For- Extensive daily hands-on experience with PV SOL (other design tools are not sufficient).
- Proven cradle-to-grave project experience, including site build, construction oversight, and commissioning.
- Comfortable working on-site alongside installers, scaffolders, and project teams.
- Understanding of HV/LV grid connections and DNO applications.
- Ability to prepare technical specifications, cost estimates, and tender documentation.
- Strong communication skills and experience working collaboratively across technical and commercial teams.
- Organised, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with renewable heat, procurement, and contractor management is desirable but secondary.
- Work on diverse and high-impact solar and energy storage projects across the UK.
- Join a collaborative, forward-thinking team where practical delivery matters.
- Career development in a growing organisation expanding into new markets.
- Competitive package: £40-45k salary + car allowance or company car.
- Immediate start to support a fast-moving project schedule and tight timelines.
If you have extensive PV SOL experience and cradle-to-grave project exposure, please submit your CV immediately. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
