About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Engineer to join our UKCS Scotland team
. In this role, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of engineering excellence across our projects.

You’ll help implement the engineering strategy and framework, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of quality, safety and technical performance. This is an opportunity to be part of a team that is committed to innovation, continuous improvement and delivering exceptional outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Support the senior project team in delivering our engineering strategy and project‑specific frameworks.
  • Manage materials, plant and labour within allocated budgets, ensuring efficient and safe delivery.
  • Communicate technical information, procedures and quality systems effectively to project teams.
  • Verify the work of others and provide technical support to ensure standards are met.
  • Lead or contribute to project assurance activities including audits, best‑practice reviews and risk management.
  • Build strong working relationships with customers, consultants and suppliers, supporting the development and delivery of technical solutions.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date industry knowledge and champion the use of modern technologies and standards.
  • Provide coaching to project teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage engineering activities from design through installation and maintenance, ensuring compliance with CDM and all statutory and customer requirements.
  • Support procurement processes and assist with accurate scheduling and cost reporting where needed.
  • Ensure quality control mechanisms are in place to meet customer and technical requirements.
  • Produce accurate progress and productivity reports for senior management.
  • Provide clear feedback to estimating teams on performance against estimates.
  • Support the implementation of digital tools to enhance project delivery.
  • Demonstrate Balfour Beatty Values, maintain a focus on Zero Harm and support sustainability activities.
Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Previous engineering experience and subject‑matter expertise within an engineering discipline.
  • Strong, current knowledge of engineering and industry best practice relevant to the role.
  • A degree in a relevant engineering field (or ONC/HNC); professional qualifications such as MICE or MIStruct

    E are desirable.
  • A valid CSCS card.
  • A focused, thorough approach with the confidence to elevate issues when needed.
  • Experience managing within construction or related industries, with a strong grasp of technical trends and specialist markets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and in partnership with others.
  • A passion for innovation, engineering excellence and continuous development.
  • An understanding of BIM, including reading/assembling models and producing reports (desirable).
