Senior/Principal Reliability (RAM) Engineer - Rail

Responsibilities- Manage RAM processes in line with sector standards (e.g., EN 50126 for rail) and perform relevant activities such as planning, analysing, verifying, and reporting.
- Lead the RAM team, deliver planned activities, and manage sub‑contractors.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally and integrate stakeholder management.
- Support bids, advisory, and strategic decisions, and maintain client relationships.
- Mentor junior RAM members, acting as the focal point for technical expertise and guidance.
- Promote innovation and new techniques/tools to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Promote the WSP brand through industry engagement, including committees, councils, and conferences.
- A degree in a technical engineering discipline or extensive relevant experience.
- RAM engineering experience (rail desirable but not essential).
- Corporate membership with an appropriate professional institution (e.g., SaRS, IET, IMechE).
- Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer or significant progress toward that goal.
- Proven ability to deliver RAM activities and provide technical leadership to a team of RAM and Safety Engineers.
- Proven ability to support RAM and Safety engineering activities and/or create supporting arguments and evidence.
- Proven ability to liaise with regulatory and independent parties or bodies.
- Extensive knowledge and experience applying the EN 50126 series and related standards.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working as part of a multi‑disciplined team.
- Knowledge and experience in mainline or metro railway systems (e.g., Signalling, Control Systems, Rolling Stock, Traction Power, Depots).
- Experience working on international projects.
- Experience in sectors such as aviation, nuclear, oil & gas, defence.
- Mixed experience in consultancy and supplier/client environments.
