About The Role
Are you passionate about creating safe, positive working environments and shaping a strong safety culture? Join us on the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project and play a key role in supporting one of the UK’s most exciting engineering and energy transition programmes.
RoleAs part of the project HS&W team, you’ll help ensure that all site operations meet the highest safety standards. Your role will include:
- Working closely with site management to make sure activities are well‑planned and compliant with project HS&W requirements.
- Providing competent advice on current health & safety legislation, project standards and our management systems.
- Supporting risk assessments and safe systems of work tailored to project needs.
- Helping to build and embed a positive safety culture using our Golden Rules.
- Actively monitoring, recording and reporting on HS&W performance across our workforce and subcontractors.
- Challenging unsafe behaviours and conditions, and promoting continuous improvement through observations and feedback.
- Leading or assisting with accident, incident and near‑miss investigations, ensuring lessons learned are captured and shared.
- Delivering effective H&S inductions and liaising with the Project Training Coordinator on required training.
- Responding promptly and accurately to queries from the project team and wider HS&W function.
- Working collaboratively with partner and client HS&W teams and contributing to regular coordination meetings.
- Supporting updates to the Project H&S Management System and promoting best practice to enhance customer relationships.
- Maintaining a visible on‑site presence, coaching and mentoring personnel to drive ongoing improvement.
- NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma or equivalent (e.g., C&G).
- Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH or GradIOSH).
- Strong technical skills with the ability to prepare high‑quality HS&W reports, inspections and audits.
- Proven experience conducting incident investigations, identifying root causes and defining proportionate corrective actions.
- Confident use of Microsoft 365 and general IT tools.
- Experience working in multidiscipline engineering and construction environments.
- A commitment to maintaining competence through ongoing CPD.
- The confidence to challenge unsafe acts at all levels and promote proactive safety behaviours.
- Smart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working, where roles allow.
- 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata)
