JOB PURPOSE:

The Electronics Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, testing, debug, and production readiness of custom electronic hardware used in Kopin’s microdisplay-based products. This role works closely with Electrical Engineers and cross-functional teams to support PCB bring-up, validation, testing, and manufacturing support activities across multiple programs.
The position requires strong hands‑on laboratory skills and a solid understanding of electronic hardware, with responsibilities spanning prototype development, system integration, qualification testing, production support, and ownership of select lower-level hardware design tasks.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the bring‑up, debugging, and validation of custom PCB assemblies, including power, control, and interface electronics used in microdisplay-based systems.
  • Perform board‑level debugging and troubleshooting using standard laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and power supplies.
  • Perform hands‑on soldering, rework, and modification of PCB assemblies, including fine‑pitch components and connectors, to support debug and prototyping activities.
  • Assist Electrical Engineers with hardware integration, root‑cause analysis, and issue resolution across prototype and production hardware.
  • Support environmental testing, burn‑in, and qualification testing activities, including test setup, execution, and documentation of results.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain hardware test procedures and validation plans.
  • Support production and manufacturing activities, including test setup, failure analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Create and maintain schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and component libraries.
  • Support schematic capture and PCB layout tasks for simple or derivative designs, with the opportunity to own lower‑level PCB designs under guidance from senior Electrical Engineers.
  • Maintain design documentation, bills of materials, and engineering records under revision control.
  • Collaborate with Electrical, Embedded Software, Mechanical, Optical, and Systems Engineering teams to support integrated system development.
