Electrical engineer - Tech and Life Sciences

The challenge
As an Electrical Engineer you are part of the creation of the design within various projects. You are deployable for different market segments and often complex projects. We are looking for engineers for various units within the High Tech and Life Sciences division of Deerns, such as Data Centres, Life Sciences and Electronics. In consultation with you, we look at which team and location you would fit in best.

Deerns Netherlands has offices in Groningen, Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Maastricht in addition to its headquarters in The Hague.

Your tasks in short:

• You think along in the concept phase of projects.
• You will work out parts of the installation design in accordance with guidelines and elaborate these (such as energy supply, fire safety, air treatment, low-voltage installations, lighting, telematics and communication and security facilities).
• You make common cable or lighting calculations.
• You coordinate and coordinate the work with the design leader.
• As a medior/ senior engineer you will support the design leader and project manager in communication to the client and the design team.
• As Lead Engineer Electrical Engineering you are fully responsible for the creation of the design.

Here's where

• We worked on the development and design of a sustainable and modern building for the Netherlands Institute for Space Research (SRON), which develops measurement instruments for satellites. SRON was moving to the Leiden Bio Science Park and had high demands on the new building in terms of sustainability, clean rooms and installation technology. As a research institute dedicated to studying the Earth's atmosphere, SRON felt it was important to minimize the impact on nature and the environment.
  
  Therefore, Deerns chose heat pumps in the design for heating and cooling the building and solar panels were installed on the roof. On top of it all, the building received the BREEAM-NL certificate Excellent.
• We worked on the development of the new, sustainable DSM Lab 6 in Delft where Deerns handled all technical installations, electrical systems, IT infrastructure, security, mechanical systems, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), transportation and utility systems. Technical and financial feasibility were also thoroughly checked during the design phase. Based on the incidence of sunlight in the building, the energy performance requirements and the strict requirements for indoor temperature, Deerns designed a façade that is 25% closed.
  
  This ensures a naturally cool indoor climate, saving energy on heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
• We worked on the construction of the new Equinix ML5 Data Center in Milan, Italy. We supported the project's mechanical, electrical and plumbing design for construction. After the design for construction of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, Deerns supervised the construction site to check the quality of the installations and acted as commissioning manager for the General Contractor. Deerns also supported the construction to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating.
  
  LEED certification means a building is healthy, highly efficient and has improved environmental performance.

This is you

• You have at least a completed Bachelor's degree (Hbo/ Wo) in Electrical engineering or another technical education.
• You have already gained some experience as an Electrical Engineering Engineer and are ready for the next step in your career. (Please note that we have several roles open for this position, from medior to senior and lead engineers. We will determine with youwhich role you will end up in).
• You have experience working in projects and are an excellent team player.
• You have excellent knowledge of the Dutch and English language (both written and spoken).
• MS Office, Revit, BIM
  360 and other calculation programs have no secrets for you.
