Role

This position aligns with a Junior Project Controls role typically found within the Oil & Gas and EPC (Engineering & Procurement) industry. The role is primarily focused on Project Controls, with procurement support responsibilities as required. Due to the company’s size, the successful candidate may also be asked to support additional tasks within their competency and training, providing an opportunity for broad exposure and professional growth.

Areas of Accountability

The Junior Project Controls with Procurement support will be responsible for:

Assisting with the preparation of project cost reports, baseline budgets, and forecasts using BQE CORE and Power

BI (training provided).

Supporting project forecasting and resource planning
, including weekly coordination with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and department managers.

Monitoring, reviewing, and approving project labor hours and time submissions for accuracy.

Supporting the setup, tracking, and analysis of engineering man-hours and associated costs
.

Assisting in the development, maintenance, and updating of engineering and construction schedules for proposals and active projects using Microsoft Project.

Reviewing project documentation to ensure accurate coding, cost allocation, and financial integrity
.

Reviewing scope changes and change order requests for justification, schedule impact, and budget adequacy.

Supporting Material Requisition (MR) preparation and processing based on approved vendor quotations.

Working closely with Project Coordinators, Project Teams, and client-designated staff
.

Ensuring the integrity, completeness, and organization of project files
, including contracts, purchase orders, variation orders, and invoices.

Creating, maintaining, and improving project controls tools and templates
.

Participating in commercial estimate reviews
.

Performing other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualification Requirements

Along with an enthusiastic and professional attitude, you must also have:

Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Business Administration, Project Controls, Procurement or a related discipline.

0–2 years of relevant experience in Project Controls, Cost Control, Project Coordination, or a similar role (experience in an EPC, Oil & Gas, or industrial environment is an asset).

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.

Familiarity with project cost tracking, reporting, and basic forecasting concepts
.

Exposure to scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project is considered an asset.

Experience with financial, project controls, or BQE CORE, Power BI, or similar is an asset; training will be provided.

Strong organizational and time-management skills
, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Excellent verbal communication skills
, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Demonstrated problem-solving ability and willingness to learn.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment.
