Position: Utility Surveyor (Permanent)
Utility Surveyor

This is a remote working role.

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Utility Surveyor to join their Geospatial team.

This is a dynamic, field-based position where you will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, delivering projects that range from routine surveys to technically complex investigations. You will utilise state-of-the-art equipment to capture high-precision data for Underground Utility Mapping, Drainage Surveys, and other advanced surveying services across the UK and Ireland.

The Role

As a Utility Surveyor, you will play a key role in delivering accurate, high-quality geospatial data to support infrastructure and water industry projects. You will ensure survey work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards, particularly PAS
128.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and support utility survey projects, ensuring delivery on time and within scope

* Conduct Underground Utility Mapping surveys in accordance with PAS
128 standards

* Operate surveying equipment including Electromagnetic Locators and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)

* Process and produce quality-controlled survey deliverables

* Work closely with Senior Surveyors and Survey Managers

* Carry out both supervised and unsupervised fieldwork in line with risk assessments

* Maintain compliance with health, safety, and quality standards

* Identify and escalate operational, safety, and commercial risks

* Engage professionally with clients, the public, and internal teams

* Adhere to company procedures, including safe driving practices

About You

You are technically competent, detail-oriented, and take pride in delivering accurate and reliable survey data. You are comfortable working outdoors and adaptable to changing site environments.

Essential Skills & Experience

* Strong understanding of PAS
128 standards

* Experience using Electromagnetic locating equipment and Ground Penetrating Radar

* Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Proactive, problem-solving mindset

* Good time management and organisational skills

* Willingness to travel and work flexible hours

* Full UK driving licence

Qualifications

* QCF Level 3 in Utility Mapping/Surveying, relevant HNC/Diploma, or equivalent proven experience

Working Environment

This is a field-based role requiring flexibility and a practical approach. You will:

* Work outdoors in all weather conditions (including potential night work)

* Travel to sites across the UK and Ireland

* Work evenings, weekends, and overtime where required

* Undertake manual handling, including lifting inspection chamber covers

* Work in confined spaces and on highways when necessary

Mandatory drug and alcohol testing applies to this role. A DBS check will also be undertaken.

You will join a specialist Asset, Surveying and Inspection team delivering industry-leading services to the UK Water Industry. The team supports water networks, drainage, leakage consultancy, water resources, and efficiency programmes.

Using advanced surveying technology, the team provides precise data that helps reduce water leakage, prevent flooding, and protect local communities. Quality and customer experience are central to everything delivered, and every team member plays a critical role in maintaining those standards.
