Position: Land Based Studies - Chief Examiner Level 2 Technicals - Remote

Would you be interested in supporting the delivery of Technicals examinations in Land-Based Studies? We are looking for a Chief Examiner to join us in the development and delivery of assessment. This Associate role gives you the opportunity to work alongside your current job, to build additional income with competitive daily rates, and to continue to develop your own skills and development.

The Role profile outlines the expectations of the Chief Examiner role, and the Person Specification outlines the experience required to qualify as a Chief Examiner. Further detail on these elements can be found on our website here. For more information please see the Role profile and Person specification.

The Chief Examiner will ensure question papers are prepared ahead of our dated exam series and are at the required standard, error free and high quality. They will support a team of experienced associates during standardisation activities, sampling and providing ongoing support during marking – and will then support setting grade boundaries for each examination series.

The Chief Examiner will also provide guidance on occasional technical queries throughout the year where needed, and support preparation of our task-based synoptic assignments.

The Chief Examiner should have strong experience in industry and education with a passion in supporting learners in an important step in their journey, with a commitment to quality and high standards. Experience in writing and reviewing question papers is welcomed but not necessary.

The Chief Examiner will also provide key technical advice and guidance to support assessment development and delivery across the year, when required.

Key Timelines for the Chief Examiner
  • Assessment Production:
Ongoing throughout the year outside of key marking and awarding windows
  • Dated Entry Question Paper:
June Exam Series & November Exam Series
  • Awarding/Standard Setting:
July – Mid August & December - January

When completing your application, it is essential you read the person specification fully and map your application to show where you meet the required criteria.

Please note applications that do not demonstrate meeting the person specification may be declined or delayed.

We look forward to receiving your application.

We believe that diversity and inclusion strengthen and enriches us, and that it is the responsibility of everyone at the City & Guilds Group to drive this value. We work hard to be inclusive in our approach to recruitment and associate opportunities, whilst still ensuring we meet our regulatory requirements. We strongly encourage and welcome applications from diverse and underrepresented communities.
