Our client is a leading offsite construction specialist, delivering high-quality, complex builds through engineered modular solutions. They operate across sectors including healthcare, life sciences, education, aerospace, and battery technology.
You will take charge of the entire bid lifecycle: strategy, development, submission, and pursuit of winning contracts that support our growth goals. You’ll partner with design, estimating, operations, commercial, and senior leadership teams to ensure proposals are technically outstanding, commercially sound, and compelling to clients.
This is a hybrid role based around Newcastle.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end bid process: from opportunity evaluation, bid/no-bid decisions, pricing, risk assessment, contract terms, resource planning, to final submission.
- Work closely with design, engineering, estimating, operations and commercial teams to produce technically strong, commercially viable proposals.
- Develop and manage bid timelines, ensuring deliverables, reviews and information gathering occur according to schedule.
- Perform market, client, and competitor analysis to refine bid strategy, positioning, and value propositions.
- Identify, assess and mitigate risk within bids; ensure margin integrity, contractual clarity and capacity considerations.
- Maintain and continuously improve bid templates, document libraries, lessons learned, and bid processes.
- Engage with senior leadership to align bid activity with strategic direction, capacity and capability.
- Ensure compliance with any relevant industry regulations, standards or accreditations in bid responses.
- Significant experience as a Bid Manager or in a comparable role—ideally within construction / modular / engineering environments (or similar technical commercial sectors).
- A proven history of winning complex bids.
- Strong commercial insight, including cost modelling, risk evaluation, and contract comprehension.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—to produce polished and persuasive bid documents.
- Robust project management skills; adept at juggling multiple stakeholders, tight deadlines, and priorities.
- An analytical mindset, with ability to interpret RFPs, competitor or client data and convert into winning content.
- A collaborative style—comfortable working among technical, operations, and commercial teams.
- Flexibility to travel occasionally, for client meetings or site visits.
