Mechanical Design Engineers | Defence Engineering

Role Overview:

Location: Milton Keynes (on-site, with occasional remote work)
Package: £30,000–£60,000 depending on experience + benefits

What You’ll Be Doing:

Designing ruggedised enclosures, cabinets, and consoles for naval applications.
Turning customer requirements into fully engineered solutions.
Collaborating with electrical engineers, production, and quality teams to ensure products meet strict marine standards.
Managing full project life cycles from concept to compliance documentation.
Applying principles of DFMA, thermal management, IP rating, EMC, vibration performance, and shock resistance.
Contributing to manufacturing documents, parts lists, drawings, and test plans.
Supporting project delivery on schedule and to spec.

Main Skills Needed:

Experience in mechanical design for enclosures or cabinets, ideally for rugged environments.
Proficient with AutoCAD Inventor (3D) and AutoCAD (2D).
Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, welding, and finishing techniques.
Able to design for critical standards and apply relevant engineering regulations.
Familiarity with FEA, CFD, or NASTRAN tools is a plus.
Comfortable writing clear technical documentation and engaging with customers.
Degree-qualified or equivalent industry experience.
