This position provides leadership in the organization and management activities that establish the direction of the Field Engineering team, working closely with construction and contractors. Experience in British Columbia or in active copper concentrator plants would be an asset.
Responsibilities- Lead and organize field engineering employees, clients, budgets, policies, procedures, work practices, and compliance programs using experience and expertise to perform duties.
- Oversee leadership for subordinate area plant field engineering discipline leads.
- Oversee field engineering while leveraging Fluor's global construction engineering leadership for guidance on global practices.
- Supervise Field Engineering and Document Management teams.
- Provide technical support to construction and the site quality program; ensure all technical aspects of construction are satisfied.
- Participate in project leadership meetings and activities.
- Assist in developing the Site Quality Manual (SQM) for quality requirements related to equipment and project location.
- Monitor and control interface tasks between engineering and construction to ensure compliance with construction-driven requirements during development and planning phases.
- Complete miscellaneous design tasks related to temporary construction facilities and utilities.
- Ensure compliance and safe practices of Field Engineering staff.
- Execute the Field Engineering program, including exchange of engineering information among client, design engineer, and project team; manage needs, requirements, and issues.
- Coordinate preparation and revision of technical work procedures aligned with project design and construction requirements.
- Provide technical support of contracts.
- Interpret design documents; ensure reviews for completeness and constructability; ensure drawings are marked up and information provided for as-built drawings.
- Coordinate, obtain, and provide responses to RFIs as required.
- Maintain liaison with Fluor home office, distribution execution center, and on-site team to provide technical and construction engineering support.
- Provide technical evaluation of bid proposals.
- Analyze situations, forecast problems, evaluate options, and recommend actions.
- Organize and prioritize complex projects and multiple tasks; set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Manage Site Pressure Testing Program and all required Engineering walk-downs.
- Maintain compliance with applicable policies, codes, procedures, and global standards.
- Manage design solutions for in-field modifications.
Job Requirements
- Accredited four-year degree or global equivalent in engineering; fifteen years of related experience; professional certification or registration as required by local regulations.
- Previous Fluor experience is an asset.
- Proven track record of experience in Copper/Gold Concentrator projects is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and national statutes and guidelines.
- Attention to detail and time-management skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with client, engineering, construction, and vendor personnel.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally and domestically for short- and long-term assignments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; proficiency in 3D model environments such as Navisworks or Smart Plant.

- Professional registration and active participation in a technical society (preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards; knowledge of equipment costs and materials availability.
- Experience with effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting.
- Experience managing and leading large projects.
- Project setup, scheduling, progress reporting, and project close-out expertise.
- Practical field experience.
