About The Role
The Project Manager for the MBIF (Main Bulk Infrastructure Fill) scope is responsible for delivering all MBIF-related works within the Enabling & Earthworks Section of the Sizewell C project. This includes leading multidisciplinary teams, overseeing programme delivery, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory requirements, and managing interfaces with engineering, construction, logistics, quality, commercial, and safety functions. The role is accountable for achieving safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery of all MBIF activities while meeting cost, schedule, and stakeholder expectations.
Whatyou'll be doing
- Project Delivery & Execution
- Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of all MBIF works within the E&E scope.
- Ensure the project is executed in accordance with the approved programme, specifications, and contractual requirements.
- Oversee daily and weekly coordination between engineering, survey, quality, plant, logistics, and site operations.
- Maintain full visibility on production, productivity, and material flow for MBIF operations.
- Ensure all works comply with MBIF technical criteria, compaction standards, layer controls, and material acceptance criteria.
- Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
- Champion a strong safety culture aligned with CWA, Sizewell C, and nuclear industry expectations.
- Ensure all RAMS, permits, and environmental controls are in place and adhered to.
- Support safety inspections, incident investigations, and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Maintain compliance with environmental permits, including dust control, noise, run‑off management, and protected species constraints.
- Stakeholder & Interface Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for all MBIF‑related matters within CWA.
- Coordinate interfaces with: SZC client team, other contractors on site, design team, material suppliers, logistics and haul route management.
- Manage communication channels to ensure transparency, timely updates, and effective issue resolution.
- Programme & Planning
- Develop, maintain, and track the MBIF programme, milestones, and lookahead schedules.
- Ensure accurate reporting of progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Identify constraints early and implement mitigation plans.
- Drive continuous improvement in sequencing, haul routes, plant utilisation, and material logistics.
- Commercial & Contractual Management
- Work with the commercial team to manage budgets, cost reporting, procurement, and subcontractor performance.
- Support review and approval of variations, compensation events, and early warnings.
- Manage subcontractors delivering part of the MBIF scope to ensure alignment with quality and safety expectations.
- Ensure robust change control and accurate forecasting.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Engineer on major earthworks, infrastructure, or heavy civil engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of large‑scale engineered fill operations (e.g., MBIF, R‑Fill, bulk earthworks).
- Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary operational and engineering teams.
- Excellent understanding of UK construction regulations, CDM, and site safety requirements.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience in cost reporting and contract management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience on nuclear‑licensed or highly regulated infrastructure projects.
- Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- APM, PMP, or similar project management qualification.
- SMSTS certification.
- Understanding of SHW Series 600 and geotechnical specifications.
