Job Description
United Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join us and play a key role managing our clients in key Gas Transmission Asset Upgrades. The role will involve working in a dynamic and fast‑paced organisation and will afford the candidate the opportunity to work on strategic projects and stakeholder management, developing further within the role of project management.
The project is a 2‑stage Design & Build project involving the installation of a new 15 MW gas turbine‑driven compressor on an existing client site on the boundary of Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.
Initially you will be based between our offices in Warrington and our design partner offices in Woking, with some flexibility for working from home during the design phase. During construction the role is expected to be based full time on site.
Duties and Responsibilities- Take all necessary actions to ensure that work is carried out within the project requirements and timescales; managing the company’s obligations and rights under the terms of the contract.
- Manage the design partner to ensure they meet all deliverable timescales in accordance with the project programme.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including risk register, issue register, daily log, project schedules, project budgets and governance approvals.
- Provide up‑to‑date and accurate reports and presentations on the project progress and highlight any potential risk to the relevant parties.
- Develop and establish excellent working relationships through effective communication with the client, designers and stakeholders; liaise with the client to build trust and enhance understanding, attend meetings and client events.
- Support / help facilitate project meetings and support accurate recording of meetings.
- In conjunction with the project manager and quantity surveyor, prepare accurate CVRs; achieve and improve the project target profitability; identify project risks and opportunities and advise on forecast monthly turnover.
- Promote high standards of health and safety and environmental management by attending health & safety meetings, developing health & safety plans, ensuring compliance with company procedures, carrying out SHEQ and quality audits and setting a good example.
- In conjunction with the other internal teams, assess, select and appoint subcontractors based on their financial and quality performance; undertake regular reviews to ensure work is being carried out to a high and safe standard; agree scopes of each subcontract package.
- Travel within the UK to various locations shall be required regularly.
- 10+ years relevant experience preferably in construction / energy / engineering, with design & build projects essential.
- Technical knowledge of gas process systems would be advantageous.
- Awareness of key aspects of commercial management, including scope, change and forecasting management.
- Working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and the designer and principal contractor’s role.
- Knowledge of the industry, environment and context; experience working within a similar regulated utility environment; experience delivering gas projects is desirable.
- Excellent communication and written skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non‑technical audience.
- Full, clean driver’s licence.
