About the role

Balfour Beatty is a leading international infrastructure group, delivering some of the UK’s most ambitious and high‑profile projects. We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Site Engineer to join our team working on the N1/N2 Headhouse Project in Birmingham, a key element of the HS2 programme. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a nationally significant infrastructure project that will shape the future of transport in the UK.

What you’ll be doing
  • Be setting out and surveying works in accordance with design drawings
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards
  • Support the management of subcontractors on site
  • Maintain accurate site records, including as‑built documentation
  • Assist with the preparation of method statements and risk assessments
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Liaise with design teams, project managers, and other stakeholders
Who we’re looking for
  • Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in a Site Engineer role, ideally on large infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of setting‑out techniques and surveying equipment
  • Experience working with reinforced concrete, structures, or heavy civils (desirable)
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations within construction
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • CSCS card (essential)
