Overview

Balfour Beatty is looking for an experienced Senior Planner to join our Regional Civils team in Portsmouth. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful planning and delivery of complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the region.

As Senior Planner, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring detailed project programmes across multiple civils projects. You will provide planning leadership to the delivery team, ensuring programmes are robust, achievable, and aligned with project objectives. Working closely with project teams, you will lead the development and management of project programmes, providing strategic planning expertise to support safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.

What

you ll be doing
  • Develop and maintain detailed construction programmes from tender through to project completion.
  • Lead planning activities across civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor progress against programme and identify risks, delays, and opportunities.
  • Produce progress reports, programme updates, and scenario planning for project teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to optimise delivery.
  • Support tender planning and programme development for future opportunities.
  • Ensure programmes reflect construction methodology, resource requirements, and project constraints.
Who we re looking for
  • Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, methodologies, and programme management.
  • Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6 or similar.
  • Experience managing complex project programmes and analysing progress performance.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in construction, Civil engineering, or project management.
