About the role
Join Connect Plus Services (CPS) and play a key role in the commercial management of one of Europe’s largest and most complex highway infrastructure networks. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be part of the Commercial Team responsible for developing and evaluating changes and variations across the M25 Area 5 network.
Working closely with project teams and commercial colleagues, you will support the preparation of cashflows, forecasts and cost controls while helping to ensure that works are delivered efficiently and in line with contractual requirements. This role will also involve close collaboration with post‑contract Quantity Surveying teams to manage the commercial aspects of subcontractors and self‑delivery teams.
The scope of work spans multiple disciplines including highway structures, technical services, traffic signalling and road traffic electronic signage, providing a varied and engaging opportunity within a high‑profile infrastructure environment.
What you'll be doingYou will work alongside estimators and the project change team to develop and define changes to works while supporting the pricing and evaluation of project variations. A key part of the role involves measuring and valuing works to refine cost models and pricing baselines for change, including undertaking cost verification audits.
You will develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the bespoke DBFO contract and act as a first point of contact for day‑to‑day contractual queries. There will also be opportunities to work with Candy pricing software as part of the commercial evaluation process.
The role will involve refining forecasts and investment models while preparing weekly and monthly budget and cost reports. You will participate in regular cost reviews and contribute to the preparation of monthly reports for the CPS Senior Team, including progress updates, fees earned, costs to date, forecasts and earned value management metrics.
More broadly, you will operate as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on one of the most significant road infrastructure programmes in Europe, supporting commercial decision‑making and ensuring value is delivered across the network.
Who we're looking forYou will bring strong experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor across both pre‑contract and post‑contract environments, ideally within highways or major infrastructure projects. A good working knowledge of road structures, traffic monitoring systems, signalling and electronic signage equipment will be beneficial, along with experience in the full range of Quantity Surveying disciplines.
You will have previous experience supervising or supporting a team of commercial professionals and be confident negotiating with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners. Experience in the commercial management of NEC subcontracts is essential, even though the overarching contract is bespoke.
Membership of a relevant professional body, or progress towards a professional qualification such as RICS or CInstCES, would be advantageous. A valid CSCS card is also required.
