About the role

At Balfour Beatty we deliver some of the UK’s most complex, critical and nationally significant infrastructure and construction projects. We are seeking an experienced and driven Design Manager to join our team in Derby, supporting the successful delivery of a major project for Rolls‑Royce. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a highly collaborative project environment where innovation, technical excellence and quality are at the forefront.

Working on a prestigious and technically demanding programme, you will lead the design process, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure the successful integration of design solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

What you’ll be doing
  • Managing the design process from pre‑construction to project delivery
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and specialist consultants
  • Ensuring designs are compliant, buildable, cost‑effective and delivered on programme
  • Driving design risk management and technical assurance processes
  • Working closely with operational, commercial and client teams to achieve successful outcomes
  • Leading design reviews, workshops and stakeholder engagement activities
Who we’re looking for

You will have the following:

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager within construction or major infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of design coordination and project delivery processes
  • Experience working within highly regulated or technically complex environments is advantageous
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead collaborative teams effectively
