About The Team
The Engineering Competence Center is part of the Naval organization within Thales Netherlands. Engineering is organized as a matrix with 8 product segments and consists of six main disciplines:
System Engineering (300 employees), Mechanical & Electrical Engineering (130 employees), Software Engineering (300 employees), Radar Front End Engineering (90 employees), Supportability Engineering (60 employees) and Engineering Delivery Management.

About the Services Segment
From an engineering perspective, each segment is headed by an Engineering Manager for the Segment (EMS). In the Services segment, we are looking for an EMS for Services. The Services segment primarily focuses on delivering spare parts, repairs, and overhauls of existing products in the field. The Supportability Engineering department provides technical documentation, customer training, logistics engineering, and obsolescence management.

About Your Future Job
The EMS for Services is responsible for the total performance of engineers in the segment, aligning with delivery in line with strategy and defined engineering methods. The EMS starts with estimates for bids and continues through development, qualification, and services phase. There are about 10 Work Package Managers (Integrated Logistic Support Managers) reporting to the EMS, and three Team Managers within Supportability Engineering.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain a multi‑disciplinary team, align with expectations from the Services Business Segment, and influence others to achieve high performance.

Manage Sales and Operations Planning, including S&OP demand and supply reviews for short‑ and mid‑term resource needs.

Accountable of commitments taken during the bid process for engineering activities in the segment scope.

Execute engineering activities delivered by the segment, manage work packages for projects and products, and ensure delivery on time, on cost, and on quality.

Support growth of the services segment and prepare for business development and commercial expansion.

Accountable for engineering commitments made during the bid process, delivery schedule, cost, and quality.

Staff teams with WPMs and engineers to meet agreed cost and planning.

Accountable for short‑ and mid‑term S&OP demand resource needs.

Dual reporting line to the Engineering Manager and Product Segment Manager Services.

EMS Services Profile

Member of the Engineering Management Team.

Member of the Services Management Team.

In charge of around 10 WPMs and 3 Team Managers.

Accountable for engineering commitments during the bid process.

Accountable for delivery in the segment regarding schedule, cost, and quality.

Responsible for staffing teams to enable delivery within agreed cost and planning.

Accountable for short‑/mid‑term S&OP demand resource needs.

Has a dual reporting line to the Engineering Manager and Product Segment Manager Services.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or business administration, or equivalent.
