About the Role
At Balfour Beatty, we deliver infrastructure that powers communities, connects people, and creates lasting social value. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Materials Engineer to join our team on the North Hykeham Highways Project – a major infrastructure scheme that will enhance transport connectivity and support long‑term regional growth across Lincolnshire. This opportunity allows you to play a critical role in maintaining quality and compliance across all material‑related activities on site, working closely with construction, commercial and supply chain teams to ensure that all materials used on the project meet the required specifications, industry standards and project requirements.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Ensuring all construction materials comply with project specifications and industry standards
- Coordinating material testing, inspections, and approvals throughout the project lifecycle
- Reviewing technical submittals, test results and quality documentation
- Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and site teams to maintain quality assurance standards
- Supporting audits and ensuring compliance with quality management systems
- Monitoring material performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
- Maintaining accurate records and reporting on quality and material compliance
- Previous experience in a Materials Engineer or Quality Engineer role within highways or civil engineering projects
- Good understanding of highways specifications, testing standards and quality assurance processes
- Experience coordinating material testing and supplier compliance
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary delivery teams
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related discipline
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and health & safety standards
