Functional Safety Engineer

£50,000 - £70,000 plus progression, training and company benefits. Hybrid/remote options available.

UK based – primarily remote, ideally located within commuting distance to Edinburgh. Occasional client or office visits may be required.

This independent consultancy supports clients in energy, infrastructure and industrial sectors to manage risks, operate safely and navigate complex projects. A global team offers mentorship, training and a clear career progression path.

• Lead process safety initiatives, delivering risk assessments, safety reviews and compliance support while working closely with project teams and clients.
• Carry out safety assessments, develop procedures, support hazard identification and ensure projects run safely, guiding teams and promoting a strong safety culture.
• Assist in process safety engineering for projects within the energy, oil & gas or industrial environments.
• Support compliance review and procedure development across projects.

• Proven experience in process safety or process engineering.
• Experience in energy, oil & gas or industrial environments preferred.
• FSA Level 4 Certification or equivalent experience; candidates with strong functional safety experience considered.
• Strong documentation, communication and teamwork skills.

Flexible working hours (Mon‑Fri 8‑4 or 9‑5), mostly work from home with occasional client or office visits. Training, mentorship and career progression opportunities included.
