About the role

We are seeking an experienced Temporary Works Manager to lead temporary works management on the Skye 132kV Reinforcement Scheme within our Power T&D portfolio.

This is a senior project leadership role responsible for overseeing all temporary works activities across a complex transmission infrastructure project, ensuring full compliance with BS5975 and company governance procedures.

The project currently contains in excess of 4,000 live Temporary Works Register (TWR) lines and requires a dedicated Temporary Works Manager to lead and manage two Temporary Works Coordinators (TWCs) in line with the established project strategy and organisational structure.

The successful candidate will provide temporary works leadership across civils, OHL and UGC scopes including access solutions, tower bases and erection, trench works, HDDs, joint bays and associated enabling works.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead the Temporary Works function across the Skye 132kV Reinforcement Scheme.
  • Manage and support two Temporary Works Coordinators (TWCs) in line with the project TW strategy.
  • Ensure all temporary works are managed in accordance with BS5975 and company procedures.
  • Oversee temporary works activities across civils, OHL and UGC scopes including access solutions, tower works, trenching, HDDs and joint bays.
  • Maintain effective control of the Temporary Works Register across a complex project environment with over 4,000 live TWR lines.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, designers and subcontractors.
  • Drive compliance, assurance and continuous improvement across all temporary works activities.
  • Support audits, inspections and governance reviews relating to temporary works.
  • Build strong working relationships across project, design and delivery teams as well as with clients and supply chain partners.
Who we're looking for
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer status preferred or working towards CEng with ICE or IStruct

  • Proven track record managing Temporary Works within major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Expert knowledge of BS5975.
  • Previous experience operating as Principal Contractor TWC.
  • Formal Temporary Works Coordinator training certification.
  • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and Principal Contractor responsibilities.
  • Demonstrable experience managing large-scale Temporary Works Registers and complex infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and CAD systems.
