We are looking for a highly capable FPGA Firmware Engineer to join a team developing advanced high-performance digital signal processing and RF systems. This role would suit an engineer who thrives on solving technically complex challenges across SDR, DSP and high-speed digital design.
You will work on sophisticated FPGA-based platforms used in demanding real-world applications, contributing to architecture, implementation, verification and system integration.
Key Responsibilities- FPGA firmware development using VHDL/Verilog for complex DSP and RF systems
- Design and implementation of SDR and digital RF processing chains
- Development of DSP algorithms including IQ modulation, filtering, mixing, correlation and FFT processing
- FPGA verification, simulation and hardware bring‑up
- Work with modern Xilinx platforms including RFSoC, MPSoC and Ultrascale devices
- Collaborate across firmware, hardware and systems engineering teams
- Support automated test and validation environments using Python and related tooling
- Contribute to technical leadership, standards and architectural decisions
- Strong commercial FPGA development experience using VHDL and/or Verilog
- Experience with Xilinx FPGA technologies including Vivado tool chains
- Strong DSP knowledge including RF signal processing techniques
- Experience working on SDR, communications, radar, aerospace or high‑performance embedded systems
- Understanding of high‑speed digital interfaces and system integration
- Experience with verification and test methodologies
- Comfortable working in Agile engineering environments using Git/JIRA/Confluence
- RFSoC or MPSoC experience
- MATLAB‑based DSP or filter design
- Ethernet, memory controller or comms protocol experience
- Exposure to embedded software or Python scripting
- Team leadership or mentoring background
The successful engineer will be technically curious, highly adaptable and comfortable operating in fast‑paced engineering environments where innovation and initiative are valued. You should enjoy solving difficult technical problems and be capable of contributing across both firmware and system‑level challenges.
This is an opportunity to work on genuinely advanced DSP and FPGA technology within a strong engineering team tackling cutting‑edge projects.
The opportunity is paying either a high salary or contract rate for the right person. Majority remote is fine with occasional visits to London.
