A little more about your role…

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior or Principal Hydrologist (UK WIDE) to join our dynamic Sustainable Water Management team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and contribute to high-profile Water Resources Management Plan (
WRMP ) projects across the UK.

WSP is currently embarking on a significant programme of AMP8 projects for multiple high profile UK water companies. The projects are geographically and environmentally diverse. WSP is also leading the way in delivering challenging Environmental Destination projects across the UK, a topic that will feature heavily as AMP8 progresses. We will also be supporting water companies with developing hydrology for their WRMPs.

Our Catchment Science team works across a wide spectrum of services covering water resources and water security, hydrology and hydraulics, water quality, hydro ecology and hydrogeology. Through our projects we provide high quality technical services and advice to a wide range of high-profile customers in the UK and overseas, including government departments and agencies, the water industry, and a wide range of other industrial sectors, including power, transport, nuclear, mining, commercial and oil and gas.

Some

of the things we are looking for…
  • A track record of contributing to the hydrological and water management elements and WRMP inputs in recent AMP cycles.
  • Experience in the development of rainfall runoff models, together with a sound understanding of model calibration techniques.
  • A solid understanding of wider hydrology approaches that are often required for water resources applications in England and Wales.
  • Some familiarity with demand management and water resources modelling approaches.
  • A good understanding of the latest UK water resources management regulations including the Water Resources Planning Guidelines.
  • An understanding of approaches to assessing climate change resilience.
  • An attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance, to include the production of high quality client and stakeholder/regulator facing deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to write high quality concise reports.
  • Working collaboratively with other sectors/disciplines to deliver the hydrological aspects of a wide range of challenging and engaging projects.
Qualifications:
  • A water-focused MSc (e.g. hydrology & water resources, sustainable water management etc.) and BSc in related subject (e.g. physical geography, earth sciences, geology, civil engineering, etc.)
  • You will have gained, or be working towards chartership with a relevant professional body
