You will join one of the UK’s leading transport planning and transport modelling consultancies, working at the forefront of delivering complex, high‑profile infrastructure and development projects. As a Transport Modeller/Engineer you will play a key role in developing innovative, evidence‑led transport solutions that influence how people move, live and connect across the UK. The position offers a career progression opportunity within a successful team of transport modelling professionals using established transport models and a portfolio of regionally, nationally and internationally based projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and apply transport models, including model building, calibration, validation and forecasting.
  • Support or lead projects encompassing transport strategies, business cases, and demand forecasting.
  • Analyse and interpret complex datasets to produce meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations and client deliverables.
  • Scope modelling requirements and define appropriate methodologies.
  • Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams across planning, engineering and environmental services.
  • Support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the transport modelling community.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to explain modelling outputs in a clear, accessible manner.
Qualifications
  • Some experience in developing transport models, including calibration, validation and testing.
  • Experience in at least one modelling package such as VISUM, SATURN, EMME or similar.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Understanding of UK transport policy, appraisal and transport modelling guidance e.g. Department for Transport (DfT) Transport Analysis Guidance (TAG).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in Python or other programming languages such as R, Java or C++.
  • Experience in GIS.
  • The ability to communicate technical outputs to non‑technical audiences.
  • A collaborative approach with the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team.
