Senior Automation Engineer

Overview  As Senior Automation Engineer at Damen Naval you will play a major role in ensuring that state‑of‑the‑art naval vessels are built and commissioned with fully operational automated systems, compliant with strict regulations and requirements. You will develop the automation concept of complex processes, encompassing a wide range of systems onboard the vessel, and collaborate in the V‑model using the 3DExperience engineering environment.
Key Accountabilities   Develop functional descriptions and basic engineering documents and drawings of the ship’s automated processes.
Develop and maintain specification documents for all automation components and installation processes.
Write detailed test‑ and validation plans to ensure compliance with class regulations and customer requirements during virtual and real‑world testing (FAT, HAT, SAT).
Manage vendors and subcontractors to meet their timely contribution to the project.
Review vendor and subcontractor designs and implement them in the vessel’s design.
Develop and describe standards and working methods for detailed engineering and commissioning.
Provide support during proposal stages by developing conceptual designs of system automation.
Offer technical support or commission activities to projects under contract.
Qualifications   5+ years of experience designing and installing complex automation systems (PLC/SCADA), preferably in maritime, offshore or aeronautical contexts.
Professional experience in multidisciplinary project teams with multiple suppliers and subcontractors.
Experience in a model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) environment following the V‑model.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Technical Automation, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
Permanent EU citizenship and passport are required; candidates holding only a non‑EU passport or dual EU/non‑EU nationalities are ineligible.
