Fire Engineering – Consultant
Salary: £55,000 to £70,000 per annum (open to discussion).

Any UK FNC Office. Working Pattern:
Flexible hybrid – split between the office, client sites and working from home. Closing date:

We are searching for self‑starting consultants with fire engineering experience, especially those with previous work in high‑risk industries. Join a team of experienced engineering consultants specializing in a broad range of safety disciplines. This role offers opportunities to work in sectors such as nuclear, defence, aerospace and new markets relating to clean energy systems and renewables (e.g. hydrogen, lithium‑ion battery energy storage).
Key Responsibilities- Provide a high‑quality fire engineering service to clients.
- Interact directly with a variety of clients across highly regulated sectors such as nuclear energy, defence and rail.
- Plan and deliver work in an organized way, including attending client sites across the UK as required.
- Carry out technical work in many areas of fire engineering – fire strategies, fire testing, fire system design and fire safety case.
- Project‑manage a variety of projects with accountability for resources and budgets.
- Contribute to business development and manage enquiries with both new and existing clients.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science, engineering or maths subject (or equivalent).
- Extensive fire engineering experience – especially in high‑hazard or highly regulated industries (e.g. nuclear, petrochemicals, defence).
- Experience producing fire strategies for complex facilities.
- Expertise with UK fire safety legislation, Building Regulations, British Standards and latest industry guidance.
- Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or demonstrably working towards membership.
- Accredited degree (BEng/MEng) in Fire Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or demonstrably working towards CEng through the IFE.
- Experience working within a consultancy.
- Experience working on large multi‑disciplinary projects.
- Knowledge of safety cases in high risk industries.
- Experience of fire modelling (CFAST or FDS).
- Experience undertaking DSEAR assessments.
- Knowledge of clean energy systems such as hydrogen and lithium‑ion battery storage.
Due to the nature of the work, candidates will be required to undergo pre‑employment screening and meet UK National Security Vetting clearance criteria.
