Position: Remote Freelance M&E Quantity Surveyor – Contract

Are you a Quantity Surveyor looking for your next contract position? Have you previously worked on M&E or building services infrastructure projects?

Location:

Remote (UK-wide) Contract length:
Ongoing / Project-by-Project Assignments Rate: DOE (Inside or Outside Ir35)

I am currently working with a leading infrastructure and engineering client who is building a pipeline of experienced freelance M&E Quantity Surveyors ahead of increased project demand forecast for 2026.

This is not a single live vacancy. Instead, it is an opportunity for you to be considered for ongoing freelance assignments on a project-by-project basis as requirements arise.

All work is fully remote, offering flexibility across the UK.

As Quantity Surveyor, you will:
  • Carry out detailed measurement work across mechanical and electrical (M&E) building services and infrastructure projects
  • Work in line with standard M&E measurement principles and methods (e.g. SMM / NRM M&E sections as applicable)
  • Produce accurate quantity take-offs and measurement outputs for mechanical, electrical and building services systems
  • Support cost planning, valuation and commercial reporting activities across M&E packages
  • Ensure high levels of accuracy, consistency and compliance with industry standards and project requirements
You will need to have:
  • Extensive experience in M&E quantity surveying and measurement
  • Strong working knowledge of M&E building services packages (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, public health, power systems, etc.)
  • A solid background in UK infrastructure, rail, utilities or building services projects
  • Ability to work independently in a remote freelance capacity
  • Previous consultancy or contractor-side experience (desirable but not essential)
