Job Description & How to Apply Below
At Praxa Sense, we’re redefining non-invasive health monitoring with our optical innovation ALIS – a speckle-based biosensor enabling new frontiers in remote vital sign tracking.
We’re looking for a Signal Processing Engineer to design and optimize the algorithms that transform raw optical signals into physiological insights. You’ll work on both real-time embedded pipelines and offline post-processing, ensuring our models are accurate and causal, and closely follow physiological trends.
If you’ve ever tuned a filter to perfection or extracted heartbeats from noise, this is your playground.
What you will do
Design, prototype, and validate signal processing algorithms for real-time and offline applications.
Work with Python, C, and C++ to implement efficient, scalable processing chains.
Develop filters, motion compensation, and adaptive algorithms for PPG and related optical signals.
Optimize computational pipelines for embedded execution while preserving accuracy.
Collaborate with firmware and data science teams to ensure cross‑stack consistency.
Conduct spectral, statistical, and time‑frequency analyses on sensor data.
Maintain algorithm documentation, version control (Git Hub), and reproducible experiments.
Contribute to algorithm testing frameworks and performance evaluation metrics.
What we are looking for
5+ years of experience in biomedical or physical signal processing.
MSc degree in Signal Processing, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related discipline (HBO + 10 yrs exp accepted).
Proven track record with low‑level sensor data, ideally PPG / similar optical signals.
Strong command of digital filtering, adaptive signal processing, and spectral analysis.
Familiarity with causality constraints in real‑time systems.
Bonus: experience with laser‑speckle or optical flow‑based signal extraction.
Fluent in both Python (for research) and C/C++ (for implementation).
Pragmatic, analytical, and excited to work across algorithmic and system boundaries.
Thrives in lean, agile environments – enjoys wearing multiple hats and taking ownership.
Believes in synergy: great products emerge when experts in different domains collaborate closely.
What we offer
A salary matching your experience with potential equity participation.
A pivotal role in building a deep‑tech biosensing product.
Direct collaboration with experts in optics, signal processing, and data science.
The chance to shape how world‑leading companies integrate our technology.
Hybrid work culture: in‑person collaboration in Delft at least 2 days/week, work from home when you need focus.
25 paid holiday days per year.
Budget for personal development and your home office.
The satisfaction of building technology that directly improves health monitoring.
Submissions without a motivational letter will result in automatic rejection.
