Job Title:Chief Metallurgist
Reporting directly to the Mill Manager, the Chief Metallurgist leads the metallurgy team, shaping future mill performance.
Responsibilities- Create and implement daily metallurgical accounting sheets and monthly reconciliations for concentrate tracking.
- Develop and maintain a rolling geo‑metallurgical test work program with the mining team to optimize mill performance.
- Refine and improve recovery models and apply lessons learned from previous operations.
- Implement best practices and new technologies to enhance operational readiness and performance.
- Lead, manage, and develop the process and metallurgy teams, fostering a high‑performance, safety‑first culture.
- Provide technical leadership for all processing activities, including commissioning and ongoing support.
- Develop and manage metallurgical models, forecasts, and budgets.
- Assess and implement new technologies, equipment, and methods to boost processing performance.
- Oversee major sustaining capital projects to improve mill performance.
- Develop SOX standard accounting processes.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulatory standards, and corporate policies.
- Identify and mitigate operations‑readiness‑related risks proactively.
- All other duties as reasonably assigned.
- Bachelor of Engineering in metallurgy, mineral processing, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- Minimum 10 years of progressive senior or supervisory metallurgy experience in the industry.
- Experience managing diverse teams in challenging conditions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Adaptability, problem‑solving ability, and commitment to safe work practices.
This is a site‑based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine with a 15‑day on/13‑day off rotation. The position involves remote work in extreme temperatures and varying conditions, including snow, mud, ice, and water.
CompensationSalary range: CAD 140,000 – 190,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
