OverviewThe Technical Specialist, Geographic Information System (GIS) analyzes, develops, and delivers GIS information products, data, and services. The incumbent acts as a technical specialist, carrying out database design and maintenance, data collection and reformatting, system enhancements, spatial analysis for projects, cartographic product development, and quality assurance and control activities.

- Program system enhancements
- Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client‑Partners, and/or stakeholders
- Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client‑Partner expectations
- Assist in drafting statements of work for real property and environmental projects
- Update corporate geospatial data standards
- Collect and reformat data
- Author cartographic products
- Support and/or lead business development activities
- Manage risk
- Other duties as assigned
- Best practices, methods, trends and legislation in GIS
- GIS software and tools
- Spatial‑analysis technologies and techniques
- Project and risk management principles
- Minimum: college diploma in environmental science or related field with four years’ relevant experience, or the equivalent
- Preferred: university degree in environmental science or related field
- Use applicable computer software and operating systems
- Apply project and risk management techniques
- Provide functional advice and guidance to employees and the Client-Partners
- Typical office environment with occasional travel
- Some work may be located on construction sites; incumbent may occasionally be required to wear basic safety equipment
