Technical Specialist, Geographic Information System; GIS

Salary Range: $80,886 - $105,152

The Technical Specialist, Geographic Information System (GIS) analyzes, develops, and delivers GIS information products, data, and services. The incumbent acts as a technical specialist, carrying out database design and maintenance, data collection and reformatting, system enhancements, spatial analysis for projects, cartographic product development, and quality assurance and control activities.

• Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client‑Partners, and/or stakeholders
• Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client‑Partner expectations

• Assist in drafting statements of work for real property and environmental projects
• Update corporate geospatial data standards
• Collect and reformat data
• Author cartographic products
• Support and/or lead business development activities
• Manage risk
• Other duties as assigned

• Best practices, methods, trends and legislation in GIS
• GIS software and tools
• Spatial‑analysis technologies and techniques
• Project and risk management principles

• Minimum: college diploma in environmental science or related field with four years’ relevant experience, or the equivalent
• Preferred: university degree in environmental science or related field

• Use applicable computer software and operating systems
• Apply project and risk management techniques

• Provide functional advice and guidance to employees and the Client-Partners

• Typical office environment with occasional travel
• Some work may be located on construction sites; incumbent may occasionally be required to wear basic safety equipment

• Must be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
• Must hold a Reliability security clearance (minimum of 5 years of verifiable background information) or a Secret clearance (minimum of 10 years of verifiable background information)
