Aecon Water Infrastructure is supporting the delivery of a major regional wastewater program in Niverville, Manitoba
, and we are currently looking for a Jr. Project Controls Coordinator to join the team. This project includes the construction of a new wastewater treatment facility and conveyance system serving southeast Manitoba, supporting long-term regional growth and improved environmental stewardship.
Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Jr. Project Controls Coordinator supports the day‑to‑day execution of the project by assisting with cost tracking, productivity analysis, change management and reporting. The role involves working closely with the field team, engineering, subcontractors, and the owner to accurately track costs, support forecasting, identify potential risks, and help ensure the project remains aligned with schedule and cost objectives.
What You'll Do Here:
Project Controls Systems & Tools
Support the implementation and day-to-day use of project controls systems, ensuring data is entered accurately and consistentlyAssist the project team in using project controls tools for cost tracking, progress measurement, and reportingProject Setup
Assist with project setup activities, including WBS structure, cost coding, and cost loadingSupport alignment between the estimate, cost structure, and schedule to ensure a clean baselineAssist in ensuring all the contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management, etc.) are applied and fulfilled for project set-up, project tracking and reporting, and project closeoutScheduling Support
Work with the project team to provide accurate field updates for the schedule, including progress, quantities, and sequencingHelp ensure scope changes and current site conditions are reflected in the scheduleProgress & Cost Tracking
Track and enter project progress, quantities, labour hours, and costs in coordination with site teamsHelp ensure labour, equipment, and materials are coded correctly to the appropriate cost accountsPrepare project reports, including progress, productivity, and cost performance updatesSupport the team in identifying basic variances between planned and actual performanceSupport in the development and updating of the cost forecastScope, Change & Claims Support
Assist in gathering and organizing supporting documentation for change notices and change requestsHelp track and log potential and approved changes to ensure they are captured in project recordsRisk & Reporting
Support updates to the project risk register by gathering inputs from the project teamAssist in compiling required weekly and monthly reports for internal and client useTeam & Collaboration
Work closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate and timely information flowSupport coordination between the field and home office project controls teamContribute to maintaining accurate and well-organized project recordsWhat You Bring to the Team:
Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)1–3 years of experience in construction, project coordination, or project controlsPost‑secondary education in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experienceFamiliarity with project schedules, cost tracking, and reporting is an assetStrong attention to detail and willingness to learnComfortable working in a fast-paced field environment and supporting site operationsProficient in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP, Primavera, or similar tools is an assetMust be able to travel to projects
