Your Future Role on Our Team
You’ll serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in high‑pressure steam systems and steam turbines for complex industrial projects in the energy, cogeneration, thermal power plant, mining and heavy industry sectors.

Key Responsibilities- Design, analyze, and optimize high‑pressure steam systems, including boilers, headers, safety valves, relief systems, and condensate systems.
- Specify, select, and validate steam turbines (HP/IP/LP), their auxiliaries (lubrication, governing, sealing, vacuum), and the associated control systems.
- Carry out or oversee thermodynamic studies, including mass and energy balances, efficiency calculations, performance curves, energy optimization, transient scenarios, and start‑ups and shutdowns.
- Develop, update, and validate operating, start‑up and shutdown, and lockout and tagout procedures for steam and turbine systems.
- Lead preventive, condition‑based, and corrective maintenance programs (inspections, NDT, major overhauls, and planned shutdowns).
- Contribute to capital projects (refurbishments, capacity increases, new steam or turbine islands, and cogeneration) from conceptual design through to commissioning.
- Train and support operations and maintenance teams on best operating and safety practices.
- Participate in risk analyses, including HAZOP, FMEA, rupture and over pressure scenarios, and emergency plans.

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, energy engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.
- At least 15 years of relevant experience in engineering, operations, or maintenance of high‑pressure steam systems and steam turbines.
- Experience participating in major shutdowns, refurbishments, or new installation projects.
- Proficiency in steam thermodynamics and Rankine cycles.
- Understanding of mechanical and materials constraints in high‑pressure, high‑temperature service (creep, thermal fatigue, stress corrosion cracking).
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, EN, local regulations).
- Ability to review P&IDs, control diagrams, isometrics, and vendor documents.
- Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English‑speaking Canadian provinces and internationally.
- Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec.
- Asset: experience with calculation and simulation tools (thermal balances, pressure drop calculations, valve sizing).
- Asset: specialization in applied thermodynamics, rotating machinery, or pressure equipment.
