Hours of work: 40 Hours Per Week / Hybrid Working 3/2 Split between Site & Working From Home
As the Senior Scientist / Engineer, you will join a multi‑disciplinary team of Scientists and Engineers to develop novel Time and Frequency systems within the UK. You will play a pivotal role in creating robust systems for time and frequency measurement and participate in other timing‑related projects.
Responsibilities- Lead a team of Scientists and Engineers to deliver high‑quality project outputs on time, to quality, and within cost constraints
- Design and implement hardware and software for state‑of‑the‑art Time and Frequency measurement systems
- Collaborate with subject‑matter experts worldwide to develop novel solutions
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to determine needs and tailor expert solutions
- Represent the team at international conferences to stay abreast of the latest developments
- Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in physics, astronomy or a relevant field of engineering such as satellite navigation systems (GNSS), SATCOM, communications or systems engineering – Essential (PhD desirable)
- 4‑5 years’ experience in Time and Frequency measurement/Time scales – Essential
- Software experience in scientific/engineering applications (e.g. Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB) – Essential
- Team management experience – Essential
- Professional experience within an R&D or engineering environment – Desirable
- Familiarity with using and interfacing electronic equipment with computers, and an interest in lab work – Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of SATCOM, optical fibre, and GNSS‑based systems – Desirable
- Experience in atmospheric propagation of radio/microwave signals or Space Science systems – Desirable
