ResponsibilitiesHamilton Company is seeking a Field Service Engineer (FSE) to join the Robotics team to support, repair, and maintain Hamilton Company robotic instruments and subassemblies. The ideal candidate will work in the field and support the Pacific Rim Territory and ideally be located in Singapore. The FSE will be tasked with providing high quality customer support through instrument installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting as well as performing tasks associated with field servicing of Hamilton Company instruments.
Essential Job Functions
- Act as a primary field service engineer within assigned territory as well as provide backup support to other areas as required.
- Perform new equipment installation and preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and repair Hamilton Company robotic instruments and subassemblies while following company safety policies and procedures.
- Act as the project lead for complex integrated installations.
- Provide mentorship to new Service Engineers.
- Report problems and perform advanced and complex root cause analysis on instrument failures.
- Work independently, but consult with the Service team, management, and/or the Project Management team when necessary to understand and ensure proper customer support.
- Evaluate project details and provide reasonably accurate effort and timeline estimates for assigned tasks.
- Provide instrument service training and evaluation of coworkers, other company personnel, and customer technical personnel while maintaining company safety policies and procedures.
- Responsible for providing constructive feedback on instrument products which may improve safety, reliability, customer satisfaction, or cost reduction.
- Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly work area while servicing an instrument within the department, individual workstation, or customer facility.
- Responsible for practicing good laboratory practices while in a customer's laboratory.
- Promptly log service reports.
- Responsible for time and service part inventory management.
- Responsible for keeping assigned instruments current on preventive maintenance and service bulletins.
- Responsible for arranging air travel, car rental and hotel accommodations.
- Responsible for submitting job-related expenses in a timely manner.
- Provide on call (phone) support during non-business hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Travel overnight and on consecutive nights as necessary.
- Regular commute to and from customer sites with ability to navigate within the region. Must follow traffic laws and correctly route themselves, ensuring on-time arrival at customer site.
- Work from home or corporate office while interfacing with Hamilton customers to schedule service support.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to department operating procedures and high quality standards.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work with non-technical customers and co-workers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work in a safety conscious manner necessary due to potential hazardous chemicals, biologicals, and radioactivity.
- Must attend all safety classes and seminars to maintain company safety policies and procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to work from home or corporate office.
- Ability to interface with Hamilton customers to schedule and organize service jobs onsite.
- Ability to learn new robotic operating systems.
- Working knowledge of company instrument application programs and personal computer disk operating systems.
- Ability to travel overnight and on consecutive nights.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Life Sciences or Biomedical is required.
- English fluency, both written and spoken, is required.
- Experience with programming or operating automated laboratory scientific equipment is required.
- At least three (3) years of experience using laboratory automation or scientific applications preferred.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Windows, Words, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) is preferred.
- Experience programming complex applications is desired.
- Experience with programming languages and computer knowledge is desired.
