As a Graduate GIS Consultant/Analyst within the Geospatial Team, you will support the delivery of a wide range of projects through the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial data skills, while continuing to develop your technical and consultancy capabilities.
Using the Esri technology stack (mobile, desktop and web), alongside ETL tools such as FME, you will assist in the collection, management and processing of geospatial data, and contribute to the production of maps, analyses and other spatial outputs to support project teams.
In this role, you will gain hands‑on experience of geospatial workflows and tools, support efficient and high‑quality project delivery while building your understanding of industry best practice as part of a collaborative team environment.
Working closely with GIS Leads, Project Managers and technical specialists, you will develop strong working relationships and grow your confidence in applying geospatial solutions, supporting the needs of clients and stakeholders.
Strong preference for experience supporting UK-based environmental programs (e.g., linear infrastructure, offshore/onshore wind, solar, carbon capture & storage, master planning, permitting & Environmental Impact Assessments).
This position will be based out of one of our offices in South Africa (Pretoria, Durban, or Cape Town) and offers a hybrid work arrangement with in‑office and remote work capabilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Operations & Entry
- Extract and provide GIS data from internal and external repositories to support project teams.
- Perform high‑accuracy data entry and digitizing, incorporating geographical features with tabular information.
Technical Support & Mapping
- Prepare standard map templates and basic data visualizations for internal project reviews.
- Assist in routine data cleaning, attribute updates, and coordinate system transformations.
Learning & Compliance
- Apply established practices and procedures to ensure all work meets the company’s Technical Quality Review (TQR) standards.
- Participate in technical communities and training to build proficiency in the enterprise GIS stack.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in GIS, Geography, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience required with a qualifying BA/BS degree.
- Basic understanding of spatial data structures, cartography, and the ArcGIS Pro interface.
- Proficiency in English, verbal and written, with emphasis on technical GIS communication (CVs must be submitted in English).
Technical Stack
- ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online.
- Basic Excel/tabular data management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Environment sector experience spanning linear infrastructure, offshore/onshore wind, solar, Carbon Capture & Storage, hydrogen, nuclear, airports, marine, master planning, permitting & Environmental Impact Assessments.
- Experience working on UK projects, including familiarity with UK standards, regulations, and delivery contexts.
- Familiarity with open‑source geospatial (e.g., QGIS, Geo Pandas) and cloud/web GIS patterns.
