Lead Mechanical Layout Designer (Toronto, Burlington or Calgary)
We are looking for a talented Lead Mechanical Layout Designer to join our growing team. About
The Role
Prepare mechanical layouts: study level and execution level drawings in line with project requirements.
Develop mechanical layouts in 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D for an asset.
Produce layout‑relevant deliverables such as design criteria, design drawings and reports.
Deliver design drawings in accordance with project‑specific design criteria, regulations, codes and standards.
Maintain consistent design drafting standards across projects by communicating expectations and holding project members accountable.
Manage a team of layout designers against project schedule and budgeted hours.
Control and monitor layout budget hours and manpower loading and provide forecasts.
Support proposal managers by providing input into proposals and estimates.
Facilitate and ensure interdisciplinary coordination when developing layouts or models.
Comply with all Ausenco corporate policies and procedures by adopting Ausenco Quality Assurance and Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment policies, procedures and requirements.
About You
Mechanical Engineering Technician diploma or equivalent.
15 years of relevant experience in mechanical layout and design drafting of mineral processing plants within a large, multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM environment.
Experience with gold and copper commodities.
Experience in layout design of mineral processing plants for studies and projects.
Understanding of major mineral processing equipment and interconnecting equipment and chutes.
Proficiency with Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Plant3D) in 2D and 3D;
Smart Plant for asset.
Ability to use vendor data, drawings and information to develop and verify the model.
Experience with brownfield, greenfield and international projects.
Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes relating to design and systems for projects.
Well‑developed written and oral skills.
Excellent communication skills, detail‑oriented, self‑starter, organized, and able to work independently to produce drawings within strict deadlines.
Ability to work well either as lead, part of a team or independently.
Willingness to travel between downtown Toronto and Burlington locations when necessary.
Experience in industrial projects is also an asset.

Salary
Salary range: $115,000-$143,000.
Expected Salary:
Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
